This conversation is top of mind for any entrepreneur or venture capitalist focused on the future of work and every citizen who reads the news.

I was thrilled to have Anne-Marie Slaughter, one of the leading minds on the future of work, present on the future of work at the Upfront Summit. Anne-Marie is currently the CEO of New America and formerly both the Director of Policy Planning for the US State Department and Dean of Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Anne-Marie does not just give us the answers to the future of work questions, but also the most productive way to frame the debate:

For example, will there be more or less work? And will there be more tasks or more jobs?

Will the American Future of Work look like the Hunger Games or France or a better version of today?

Where are the jobs growing? Shrinking? How do we facilitate positive change not just as an investor but as a citizen?

Anne-Marie encourages us to make change now at the local level versus wait for the grand plot to present itself. Both our data-driven insights and actions today to build the future of work in our local communities will create that grand plot.

The answers revealed may surprise you and encourage you to change the way you invest your time and money. We at Upfront are certainly spending our time and investment dollars in this area, which we believe is one of the most important of our time.

If you are interested in the future of work, you’ll want to listen to watch this video here or listen to the audio on the upfront podcast anywhere you listen to podcasts.
